Equine Reiki

For those visiting that are new to Equine reiki, I want to explain a little more about what to expect on the day.
My approach is totally animal centred meaning I always work at the animals pace. This is so important to the best long term results with healing work, and for many horses who may never have been listened too, or given any choices in their life. This is very healing in itself.
For sensitive horses especially, the feeling of the energy from hands on can feel too overwhelming if it is the first time they have experienced it, and particularly if they have had bad experiences at the hands of people in their past.. Animals are so much closer to nature and therefore sensitive to energy than we are – we have become de-sensitised with our modern lifestyles.

So after meeting you and your horse and going through a consultation with you, I will firstly hold the space for him and let him get accustomed to my energy and presence. Working in this way is incredibly healing in itself for sensitive animals, or those who have experienced trauma in their past. It helps your animal know that he is being listened too, and will help him develop the trust necessary to benefit the most from his/her session.
From here I proceed at the animals pace with the main focus on being present, holding the space for him to begin to relax and let go of anything he may be holding on to from his past that is stuck in his energy field and affecting him physically or emotionally in the present.
During the session I will focus on being mindfully present and apart from talking through any key moments, the session will be undertaken in silence with my focus on reading the cues, responses and energy I am picking up from your horse.
At the start of the initial session we will go through your animals history and any questions, concerns you may have or be experiencing.

Ideally three consecutive sessions will bring optimum benefits as the healing happens from the inside out, and the initial session can often be about your horse becoming accusomed to the energy and sensations he experiences as he begins to release. However a single session in and of itself can be very beneficial and a very positive bonding experience for both you and him.
I always ask that if a horse is stabled that he has had the chance to get out for a walk and stretch prior to his session. Also that there is fresh drinking water available nearby as energy work can often leave the recipient feeling quite thirsty as the body goes through the healing process and water helps flush any toxins through more quickly. Please allow your horse to rest after his session, and ideally for the remainder of the day, but at least a couple of hours. Animals can often feel quite tired as their body integrates the healing and they may well have a post reiki doze. He/she may well be extra hungry too!
I hope this has given you more of an idea of what to expect from Animal centred Equine energy healing – please feel free to message if you have any questions not covered, or would like to book your horse in for a session.
